Create an address people can use

A good Alkax place answers two questions: Where is it exactly? and How will someone recognise the correct arrival point?

A comparison of an approximate building-centre pin and the practical arrival point at the public entrance.

Place the point where a visitor should arrive—not merely in the middle of the property.

Before creating a place

Search first. Use the name, locality, Plus Code, or nearby map results to check whether the place already exists. Reusing and improving an existing record is better than creating a duplicate.

Create the place

  1. Open the add-place action.
  2. Use your GPS position or move the map to the destination.
  3. Put the point at the practical arrival location—such as the public gate or shop entrance.
  4. Enter a recognisable title.
  5. Select the most accurate category.
  6. Add settlement and locality information.
  7. Describe stable, visible arrival cues.
  8. Add building, floor, or unit information when it helps distinguish the destination.
  9. Add suitable photographs, if needed.
  10. Review the point and save.

Write a useful description

Prefer:

Green storefront beside the main bus stop. Customer entrance faces the market.

Avoid:

Turn left where the red car is parked and call me.

The first description uses visible context likely to remain useful. The second depends on a temporary object and exposes a private coordination step.

Add photographs carefully

Use photos to clarify a public-facing entrance, façade, or landmark. Alkax checks submitted images before displaying them, so a new image may appear as pending while moderation runs.

Do not upload:

  • people without an appropriate reason and consent;
  • access codes, identity documents, number plates, or private interiors;
  • sexual, violent, or otherwise unsafe material;
  • an image you do not have the right to share.

Rejected images are not made visible.

Resolve duplicate warnings

When Alkax finds a similar place nearby:

  1. compare the title, point, and locality;
  2. open the existing place if it represents the same destination;
  3. improve or claim it when appropriate;
  4. create another record only when the destinations are genuinely different.

After saving

Open the place and check it as a first-time visitor would. Then share it, save it, request verification, or claim it as appropriate.
